First Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) NASR, carrying relief goods for earthquake affectees reached Syria on March 14, 2023. The ship was deployed on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission to Syria and Turkiye.
The HADR mission is aimed to provide support from people of Pakistan to the earthquake affectees of brotherly countries. Upon arrival at Port Lattakia, Syria, the ship was received by Governor of Lattakia, Federal Minister of Education, Ambassador of Pakistan to Syria, Commodore of Syrian Naval Forces and other dignitaries. Approximately 665 tons of relief goods comprising blankets, warm clothing and ration were handed over to the Syrian authorities.
During the meetings with officials, Mission Commander and Commanding Officer of the ship expressed condolences from CNS, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and people of Pakistan.

Pakistan Navy (PN) regularly undertakes HADR missions abroad in line with Government of Pakistan’s policies in supporting friendly countries during times of natural calamities. The HADR mission by PNS is a testament of PN’s resolve to extend all out support to brotherly countries in times of need and will continue to play its role.
Second Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) MOAWIN deployed on HADR mission reached Mersin, Turkiye on March 23, 2023. The ship brought second shipment of relief goods comprising winter tents and blankets for the earthquake affectees.
The ship was warmly welcomed by Turkish Naval officials and Pakistan’s diplomatic staff. To mark solidarity with our Turkish brothers, a simple and graceful ceremony was organized onboard PNS MOAWIN to commemorate Pakistan Day. The ceremony was attended by Turkish government and military officials including Governor of Mersin and Chief of Staff of Turkish Naval Forces, along with Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkiye. At the ceremony, PN’s Mission Commander expressed condolences on behalf of Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and people of Pakistan for the tragic loss of lives and property and reaffirmed PN’s resolve to stand with the brotherly countries in times of need. Turkish government officials highly appreciated the support provided by the Government of Pakistan.
At home, Pakistan Navy celebrated Pakistan Day with traditional zeal and passion. The day dawned with gun salutes and prayers were offered for solidarity and longevity of the beloved homeland. Flag hoisting ceremonies and illuminations were organized onboard Pakistan Navy Ships and Establishments as per the ceremonial norms. Beside, at the coastal areas, ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ rally, organized by students of Bahria College Ormara and Exhibition of armaments and equipment was held by Armed Forces at Gwadar in which local populace actively participated.
Pakistan Day marks the determination and special eminence of Muslims of the sub-continent and recollects their determination and prominence that fought against all odds with unity in changing the course of history. Consistently, in accordance with the directions of Government of Pakistan, Pakistan Navy demonstrates its unwavering commitment in providing continuous support for the people of Syria and Turkiye through strengthened, coordinated and unified national efforts.
