Dear Kids, Assalam-o-Alaikum!
This month holds a significant place in our hearts. Especially, the Defence and Martyrs Day, observed on 6th September, reminds us of the extraordinary courage, supreme sacrifice, and unprecedented unity displayed by our resilient nation and valiant Armed Forces while facing enemy aggression, fighting a hybrid war, or during testing times and natural disasters. Such a spirit emerged from the 1965 War, and now continues to prevail, in every hour of trial. Pakistan Armed Forces have always responded the enemy aggression with exemplary courage and determination as the entire nation stands firmly behind its fearless defenders. Soldiers guard the frontiers, citizens support them with prayers and resolve, and the entire nation demonstrates that when the motherland is challenged, its people can stand together with extraordinary strength. That unity and determination has come to be remembered as “the September Spirit” that represents resolve to face any kind of challenge with courage, patience, unity and faith. Whether the challenge comes at borders, or from terrorism within homeland, or through a natural disaster, the resilient nation and the valiant Armed Forces have time and again proved that testing times bring out the best in a nation.

The Spirit of September continues to inspire our collective national response; we witnessed this spirit during the May 2025 Marka-e-Haq when our brave Armed Forces and the valiant nation demonstrated that matchless resolve in defence of the motherland. Pakistan is fighting the most difficult asymmetrical war against terrorism, extremism and radicalization, and is successfully eliminating the threat to our security and society posed by Fitna al-Hindustan, the Indian-backed terrorists, or Fitna al-Khawarij, the terror networks operating under the Afghan Taliban regime. In facing such challenges, the message remains clear: unity is our strength, courage is our shield, and love for Pakistan gives us the will and determination to overcome difficulties.

Dear Friends!
Remembering our heroes, Ghazis and Shuhada, is not simply about looking back; it is about understanding the values and traditions that make our elders’ sacrifices more meaningful. “Faith, Unity and Discipline,” “Courage, Compassion and Cohesion,” and “Integrity, Honor and Responsibility,” are the very characteristics that everyone of us should practice in our daily life. We must demonstrate the September Spirit not just in testing times, but also by helping others, respecting parents and teachers, caring for elders and teachers, studying diligently, and becoming responsible citizens. In this month’s issue of Hilal for Kids, we have brought you stories that highlight the spirit of courage and resilience, along with various informative articles, engaging write-ups and stories. We hope these pages will help you to learn more about our national history, encouraging you to think, question, and discover about a brighter future. Let us remember our Shuhada with respect, and honor the courage of our Ghazis with zeal. They are the ones who carry forward the September Spirit not only in times of crisis, but also in everything we do.

Enjoy reading; looking forward to your feedback.
